چکیده

E BSTEIN’S ANOMALY, FIRST DESCRIBED in 1866, is relatively rare. It is a downward displacement of the tricuspid (right atrioventricular) valve below its annulus, dividing the right heart into a relatively large atrium and a small, at times functionless, right ventricle. The foramen ovale is usually patent and there may be other intracardiac anomalies.” We are describing a similar lesion involving the left atrioventricular valve, seen in an adult who seemed to have dextrocardia.

Bilateral Ebstein-like anomaly with atrial septal defect.

We report an unusual congenital cardiac anomaly consisting of a downward displacement of all leaflets of both atrio-ventricular valves. In addition to these changes, an atrial septal defect of the secundum type was noted. In light of the extreme rarity of this interesting anomaly complex, we reviewed the literature and compare the morphologic features of the present case with classic Ebstein's ...

Canine tricuspid valve malformation, a model of human Ebstein anomaly, maps to dog chromosome 9.

BACKGROUND Ebstein anomaly of the tricuspid valve is a congenital cardiac malformation characterised by downward displacement of the attachment of the septal and posterior leaflets of the tricuspid valve. Canine tricuspid valve malformation (CTVM) is morphologically similar to Ebstein anomaly; familial occurrence of CTVM has been described. Several observations suggest a genetic cause but most ...

Recurrent Abortion in a Patient with Ebstein Anomaly

Most maternal cardiac disease in Western societies is now congenital in origin. This relates to the significant improvements in congenital cardiac surgery during the last years. Some patients will present for the first time in pregnancy with symptoms and learn that they have congenital heart disease. So all patients should have a detailed evaluation and appropriate counseling before pregnancy. ...

When is an atypical DVA an AVM?

We read with great interest a recent letter in the American Journal of Neuroradiology by Fushimi et al. They report a developmental venous anomaly (DVA) with unusual imaging findings on 3T susceptibility-weighted imaging, and they suggest that it may reflect a “relatively higher flow in the DVA...”. We wish to suggest that increased flow in a DVA would be considered an atypical feature and may,...
